In Latin America, the way public projects get completed is through Public-Private Partnerships or PPPs. Government and a private business work together to get a public works project completed. When this is something like a school or daycare the private property will manage the property and maintain it. The government will supply the teachers and faculty needed to teach children.

Felipe Montoro Jens is an expert when it comes to PPPs and infrastructure projects. He is a Brazilian businessman who has been deeply involved in these types of projects over the course of his career. A few months ago he was at the Special Meeting of Governors of the Inter-American Development Bank. One of the people who took part in this meeting was Dyogo Oliveira who is the Minister of Planning, Development, and Management for Brazil. During this meeting, he defended the use of PPPs in regards to getting public infrastructure projects built. He said that he would like a study done to find better solutions for project risk management as well as the best practices for getting private investment in these types of projects.

Recently they brought us into their studio to show us what really goes into the process of making a hit song with their latest song “Somebody”. This song is a mix of modular synth work and vocals moved up a pitch.

Their process includes messing around on a keyboard as well as a normal piano. A lot of their music is created through a laptop as well. They use a program to mess with pitches of vocals and mix all of their keyboard and piano work together with their vocals.

Since posting this short one minute clip of their studio work, they have promised to show us a more in depth tutorial of how they created the song “Somebody”. Even just the little taste they have given us, makes for an interesting show though. It’s not every day you see a song produced by only two people a keyboard and a laptop. But then again, Taggart has described their music as “blurring the lines between indie, pop music, dance music, and hip hop” so you really don’t know what to expect when it comes to their studio.

They clearly know what the anatomy of a hit song is though. They have been nominated for over 54 awards and won 27. Their songs hit the top 100 charts in many different countries including the US, Canada, and the UK over and over again. You can’t go anywhere without hearing The Chainsmoker song on the Radio, and once you hear it, it’s almost impossible to get it out of your head with how catchy their beats are.

Additionally, WASH is working to create access to clean water, bathrooms, and hand and face washing centers, all of which improve personal hygiene and sanitation; which, in turn, are connected to the elimination of trachoma.
